hi,we returned last night, aching all over after walking everywhere.walking not a problem but hotel was in montmartre, the hill home was the killer. landed at cdg terminal 3,went to check out rer b,not running but free buses laid on to gare du norde, look for big sign just outside rer station at airport.stuck in traffic all the way and no metro running from gare du norde.did not even bother to try for a taxi, people almost fighting over them.walked to montmartre which only took about 20 mins, even so it was 5 hours from landing to hotel.
walked everywhere as only few metro lines running and it was quicker to walk than to stand work out the limited service.
shuttle buses are becoming more and more unreliable due to traffic,we saw several couple let down over 4 days and had to get a taxi in a hurry, and yes the same thing happened to us.T.F.I shuttle refused to come for us but only let us know at 6pm,we had booked it for 5pm.luckily we did not fly until 10pm. that lead to an expensive 70 euro taxi.
would also like to warn people to beware of taxi%26#39;s during strike taking the mickey,we were quoted 45 euro from gare du norde to montmartre but on our walk there noticed that the traffic was moving quite freely.and they run on a metre so cant really quote anything.
But in spite of the stress of aitport transfers we had a good time, saw the sight and ate well and drank plenty.

Really pleased you enjoyed your trip: somehow alcohol and food have a way of turning a grim situation onto a pleasant one. Thanks for the heads up about the cabs overcharging too. Looks like I%26#39;ll be walking everywhere if the strikes continue.

Groan..... that walk to Montmartre does not sound like the most fun ever....... At least you didn%26#39;t have too much jet lag to deal with.....
Thanks so much for posting about your experience. You can just imagine how much I am hoping that this strike is over before we arrive in 2 and a half weeks. After flying all night from the US I don%26#39;t relish the idea of walking from Gare du Nord to the Latin Quarter!

thankfully, hope its better for you. talking to taxi driver yesterday,he said that government not giving in and unions not giving in.everyone very frustrated.
kebabs; another issue with taxi%26#39;s.we walked past a line of taxis outside gare du norde and were approached by a chap who gave us a quote,we argued the price and he insisted on asking his mate, who incidentally got out of a white van,i was already suspicious and this made me wonder if he was actually a taxi driver at all or just a local trying to make some money out of the situation from unsuspecting tourists.
