We will be driving from Germany (Heidelberg) to Switzerland (Basel) and would like to stay a night in the Alsace area on our way through and spend some time there.
We are not sure if we should stay in Strasbourg or Colmar? Both look very cute but we are not sure which would be better for us.
We are 25 %26amp; 29 and will probably want to go out at night. Suggestions of Strasbourg or Colmar?

If you are only staying one night then I would recommend Colmar, it is compact and you can walk round the whole town easily. It is very picturesque and typically Alsatian
Strasbourg is a big city with a lot to see, it would warrant a couple of days to do it justice.
Both towns have many bars and restaurants, you will find plenty of places to go at night.
Colmar is one of my favourite towns in France so take my advice with a pinch of salt

Another vote for Colmar.

Comar it is!!! (I was leaning towards Colmar, anyway!) Any suggestions of a hotel or B%26amp;B? Our only requirement is a private bathroom .. no more than 150 Euros a night. Thanks!

we spent two nights in Strasbourg and two hours in Colmar this spring --- Strasbourg is beautiful and I would choose it if I could only do one --
the Cathedral (we stayed at the Hotel Cathedral right across from it) is really stunning inside and out -- but particular out
the old town area is an easy stroll from there and a fun place to wander and grab dinner -- it was also interesting to see the headquarters of Europe there -- we did that on one of the short boat tours that start near the Cathedral
Colmar is a cute wine town and also worth a visit but we felt pretty satisfied with two hours there in passing
