We want to travel by train around France in April. One of our %26#39;travel-legs%26#39; is from Dijon to Sarlat in Dordogne.
(i) What the best way to get there (and the most scenic)
(ii) Is Perigueux the only connection in the south west or does the Bordeaux line run to Sarlat?
Many thanks in anticipation of any advice

The easiest way might be to go from Dijon back to Paris, and then from Paris to Brive (about four hours from Paris, leaving from Gare d%26#39; Austerlitz), with about a 45 minute drive from Brive to Sarlat. There are multiple car rental agencies at the Brive train station (Hertz, Avis, etc.).
You are not going to find very convenient train connections into Sarlat from Dijon or Bordeaux (or even Perigueux). It may be literally possible to get there by train, but will take most likely a full day and involve transfers and waits for connecting trains. In any case you will want a car for the Dordogne, because you will not be able to get to the places you will want to see by public transit. (For more information specifically on Sarlat and the Dordogne, you might want to check out the Dordogne forum.)

First...what is your proposed travel itinerary ?? This makes a significant difference in whether individual point-to-point tickets or a Eurail pass suit your proposed itinery best.
