Considering an apartment at 3-5 rue Bernard de Clairvaux , any advice on the area would be greatly appreciated. The other choice is near the Voltaire Metro Stop. Thanks in advance!

without hesitation, rue Bernard de Clairvaux, because it seems to be a pedestrian street and you are not far from many sites of interest.
Metro Voltaire station, you do not mention on which street is the apart, but more noisy area, and not central ....

Actually I rented a studio near Voltaire, I was so quiet I was sleeping with the French doors open! And in not 15 minutes I was able to walk to Place des Vosges, to me that is central.

The first address is very central, close to Beaubourg, that is an advantage, but as it is a busy area busy night and day it will probably be noisy.
The second one is in a quieter neighborhood, not as central, but more residential. You will be able to walk to Bastille and Père Lachaise, but will have to take the Métro more often (line 9 is very convenient).
You could check the building and street using this website (for maps, aerial views and pictures):

well sorry to contradict you Only-Lyon (even if i am an only-olympic lyonnais fan) but the rue Bernard de Clairvaux is a pedestrian and quiet street and the the Bd Voltaire a high traffic street and in fact very noisy ....
