I know that this will probably not work, but I was wondering if we could gravitate to one thread to update people on what is happening with the strike. Many people are curious on to how to get from CDG to Paris as well as the conditions in Paris.
I also know that Tripadvisor will be more up-to-date and reliable than the new organizations.
Any takers?

This is from Patestore, on another thread:
Channel 2 Paris reported last night that NO service would be available at CDG into the city beginning Wednesday.
Other data: 1 in 7 TGV trains would be scheduled
1 in 10 inter-city trains and
1 in 10 metro trains in the city
New timetables are being distributed
Hotel reservations are down 25%
Velo sales up
SNCF (management) believes the strike will last through the weekend--no word from the syndicat (union)

The reports so far are fragmentary and confused in many respects. The RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne, north of Gare du Nord---to CDG and Mitry-Claye will almost certainly cease operation. The ROISSYBUS (operated by RATP) between CDG and Paris will also cease operation. Most Metro and RER service will be at least upset and delayed. The AIR FRANCE coach system will continue to operate...but will be plagued by delays caused by increased surface traffic...and will certainly be crowded to the max...with long wait-lines. Taxi service will also be plagued by the same problems.
There really is no sure way to tell specifically what, when, or where will be disturbed. This labour / social action won%26#39;t be like most others that occur on a somewhat regular basis (usually spring and fall). The issues at stake are viscerally basic...and either directly or indirectly affect a great many. Even where there is little sympathy for railway workers%26#39; %26#39;..ox being gored..%26#39; by government...there are concerns that the same thing will happen to a great many others farther down the line. Social responsibility usually begins with %26#39;..someone else..%26#39;. It%26#39;s always %26#39;..them..%26#39; that%26#39;s the problem.

What is the longest this strike could last? I%26#39;m planning a trip from Dec 1-8th and I would need to use TGV to get from Paris down to Aix en Provence. Is there a chance that this strike would last that long? Otherwise, I would just fly in and out of Marseille and skip Paris. I%26#39;d really like to go to Paris, though.

You needn%26#39;t worry about the current social / labour action for your proposed travel dates. While it%26#39;s %26#39;..possible..%26#39; that THIS action MAY run through the coming weekend...it%26#39;s unlikely to extend for several weeks....so you%26#39;re simply %26#39;..buying trouble..%26#39; worrying about it at this stage.
But there%26#39;s no tellin%26#39; what may--or may not--happen several weeks from now...and if you want to eliminate the possibility you could simply book a direct flight from CDG to NICE....and then worry about getting from the airport at Nice, up to Aix en Provence.
But as a rule-of-thumb....the French %26#39;..Strike Seasons..%26#39; tend to run SPRING--April, May %26amp; early-June ...with a Summer %26#39;off-season%26#39; again in FALL--September, October %26amp; early-November...with another winter %26#39;off-season%26#39; until spring rolls around again. Frankly, this latest action is somewhat unusual as it is occuring rather late in the fall %26#39;..season..%26#39;.

With apologies...I meant Marseilles.
Air France, Delta, Continental, Northwest, Finnair offer regular direct service from CDG to MARSEILLES.

I%26#39;m leaving Brussels Midi to Paris Nord on the 17th and it says that Thalys will be running normally for my scheduled departure. Is this realistic?
The train being late is fine, I just don%26#39;t want to be stuck in Brussels with a hotel booked in Paris.

Quick question...I am not sure which train is which so I need to ask...
Saturday morning we are taking a train from Germany to Paris...We are supposed to return by train on Monday. Do you think the lond distance train to Germany will be running? If not we mihgt need to rethink our trip.

I%26#39;m travelling to paris cdg this evening Nov 14 and was planning on taking the TGV to Cannes. Does anyone know if this service will be interrupted?
|||
Only 90 TGV out of 700 are travelling today, so I am afraid there is a huge probability that your TGV Paris / Cannes will not be travelling. You may check with your schedule on this website :
