Where to eat at New Years Eve?

Hi, my husband and I (45 years old) has just bought an apartment in Nice, and are going down there from Copenhagen just after Christmas. Any suggestions to where to eat on n.y.e? We like almost everything and would like to spend a little extra.

PS. Does anyone know any reliable craftsmen in Nice? An electrician, plumber, woddenfloor-man......?

Hi Annie.

You may have to book a restaurant for n.y.e and the prices will go up for the night.

Try La maison de Marie they have a menu for 125 euros each and also Le Tire Bouchon has a menu for 92 euros each.

Try this site for craftsmen: riviera.angloinfo.com/forum/default.asp

You%26#39;ll very likely need reservations for dinner on New Year%26#39;s Eve. If you like Italian food, in a modern setting, try La Voglia, on the Cours Saléya. Quite a few restaurants will have special menus, with special prices on the high side, for St-Sylvestre.

When it comes to looking for tradesmen your first port of call should be the office of the managing agents who run the

copropriete or syndic for your apartment building. Usually each has a preferred set of tradespeople who they use for repairs and such, electricians and plumbers. They will be reliable tradesmen who want to retain that relationship, and can therefore be trusted with keys and access in your absence for the same reason. If they cant fit in the work they will know someone else who can.

Its all about relationships in France, though even that is no guarantee of reliability. It can take a long time to get anything done

New Years eve eating is a big event for which booking is a must. Its a special premium menu usually, so don%26#39;t worry about spending extra, you will!

Though Ive not tried it myself yet, I fancy Stephan Plumail%26#39;s L%26#39;Univers

L%26#39;Univers de Christian Plumail

+33 4 9362 3222

54 Boulevard Jean-Jaurès

Nice, 06300

France

Expect 100+ euro and thats not including wine! Now you will understand that whilst the French do not need mortgage for their homes, they need mortgage their eating habits instead.

Cheers, and welcome to paradise!
