Paris at Easter -- is anything open?

Hello,

My mum is interested in going to Paris over Easter, but I%26#39;m concerned that everything will be shut and we%26#39;ll spend the entire time in our hotel. Any advice from the experts out there? I%26#39;ve been to Paris a few times but never at Easter.

Cheers,

Julian

Except on Easter itself, things would be as usual there -- since Easter is a big deal in Paris, you should check the museum web sites to see which (if any) will be open that day. I would expect that restaurants for the most part would be open. Easter in Paris means lots of really nice window displays, etc., so you mother almost certainly would enjoy walking around to see them.

Hello,

That%26#39;s very good to hear -- I was wondering more about the restaurants and shops than anything else, as presumably we could still stroll along the Seine even if the museums are shut. But starving in Paris would be a crime!

In general (except for some parts of the Marais) shops will be closed on a Sunday. But if you are thinking of being there over Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, shops would be open on Saturday. Have fun!

Hello,

I checked and both the Louvre and Musee d%26#39;Orsay are open on Sunday, so I think we%26#39;ll make that day a museum day. We%26#39;ve bought our Eurostar tickets (departing Thursday 20 March and returning Sunday 23 March) and booked our hotel (the Bel-Ami in St Germain) so we%26#39;re ready to go! Thanks!

Cheers,

Julian

Paris has thousands of tourists around Easter so not to worry about what to do and where to eat. You will have plenty of choices.
