Can anyone recommend some good places to eat in the 5th and 6th? Looking for places that aren%26#39;t fancy and food not too unusual. Leaving next week... Thanks!

Hi, there... slow evening I guess...

KDKSAIL: Many thanks for all of your restaurant suggestions!
That took quite a bit of time - it is much appreciated!
I just printed up your summary and will tuck it in my bag. Thanks again.
|||
As sagely suggested above...you can quickly and easily access a LOT more restaurant recommendations, from a much BROADER base, in a fairly SHORT span of time by siply using the %26#39;..SEARCH IN:..%26#39; feature of this TA site (located under the GREEN line on the main %26#39;..PARIS FORUM..%26#39; Topics page) using something like %26#39;..Restaurants 5th..%26#39;...%26#39;Restaurants 6th..%26#39;...%26#39;..Restaurants Latin Quarter..%26#39; as your basic Search criteria.
Sometimes people MIS-interpret this suggestion as a %26#39;..brush-off..%26#39;....but if they do they%26#39;d be SERIOUSLY WRONG. It%26#39;s amongst the BEST ADVICE that can be offered. The Archives of this site are a VALUABLE RESOURCE...for any bright enough to recognize this and take advantage of it.

Yes, I am checking this out also.
Thanks again.

Catzz -
Let me reinforce KDK SAIL%26#39;s recommendation
on Le Coupe Chou in the fifth. It is located
right behind the Claude Bernard Hotel.

Thanks!

I can suggest where not to go!
Do not bother with Brasserie Lipp- Bouleward St Germain,, unless you like overpriced mediorce at best food, served wtih a coolness that stuns,, and this is from someone who speaks some french, dresses apprioately, and made reservations...
It is one of those places that rests on its laurels so to speak.,,,
I do recommend La Coupole though,, lively( so perhpas not a %26quot;romantic %26quot; choice,, but the seafood platters are good, the steak is not standard shoe leather, and the room itself is bright and lovely.
They have menus that start at about 30 euros a head( I may be off a bit on this as going by memory)
A very casual eating experience,, not a restaurant , but rather a bar/cafe type place , we really enjoyed was called the Horses Tavern,, no they do not serve horse LOL ,, what they did very well was huge caldrons of mussels, huge plates of fries, and beer ( many kinds),, great after a long tiring day. It is on rue L%26#39;Odeon just off St Germain. The soup was also very good.

Thanks, Joan1-
I will know where not to go - thanks!
Actually the Horses Tavern sounds like just what we would be into!
Thanks for your suggestions.
