Railway Travel from Toulouse to Barcelona

Does anybody know if this is possible, and whether we must change trains more than once? Are there high speed trains? I am having a difficult time using the sncf website. Thanks!

Have a look at: www.voyages-sncf.com/dynamic/_SvHomePage…

enter your destination and travel dates and you will find enough trains. I think it%26#39;s not possible in the moment to buy an international ticket online, maybe contact SNCF.

A couple of other suggestions...

When you go to the SNCF page, enter your destination as Barcelona Sants, and leave the country where the tickets are to be delivered as France.

There are a number of options that involve only one change of trains. The total trip time will probabaly be around six hours. Some of the options may be listed as high speed trains (TGV or Talgo) but, since you will be travelling on non-dedicated lines, they will probably be no faster in fact than %26quot;ordinary%26quot; trains.

You may not be able to purchase a through ticket, but you may be able to buy the ticket for the first part of the trip (Toulouse to Narbonne or Port Bou, most likely). You could also try the Spanish rail site, www.renfe.es and see if you have any better luck there, but I kind of doubt it.

Probably best to just research the timetables now and purchase the tickets when you arrive in France.

Try www.raileurope.com It%26#39;s about 5 hours with one change in Narbonne. You pay more booking in advance through Rail Europe but if you want a specific time and your traveling in high season it%26#39;s worth it. When in doubt call your travel agent......

If your connection doesn%26#39;t involve TGV (look the schedule up at sncf.fr or sbb.ch), don%26#39;t bother to buy in advance. You can just buy a ticket as you start your journey and stay flexible.

curious-what did you end up doing%26gt; We are looking to take the train from Toulouse to Madrid.

thanks

We did end up taking the train from Perpignan to Barcelona and it was quite relaxing. No porters to help with luggage, of course, but we planned ahead and had but one backpack and one small roller. Cannot wait to explore other parts of France, Italy and Spain via train travel!
