We are planning our first trip to Paris and found the best hotel deals in either the Marais or Rue Cler area. Would love to hear opinions on which is the better area to stay in.

The Marais in an interesting and lively area that would be a great place to stay. There really isn%26#39;t a lot near rue Cler, other than the Eiffel Tower and a few shops and restaurants.

I agree. I%26#39;d go with the Marais. It is much more lively. There%26#39;s nothing %26quot;wrong%26quot; with the rue Cler area. There just isn%26#39;t much going on.

Marais without question.
|||
If you stay in Marais make sure you are close to Metro line 1 and the buses that ride on rue de Rivoli.
I find some areas in Marais not very practical for public transportation.
|||
The Marais area includes rue de Rosiers, the heart of the Jewish district, as well as lots of night life.
|||
I%26#39;d choose the marais, although the 7th arr. is very nice. It%26#39;s more quiet and out of the way.
|||
Marais...
|||
I%26#39;m biased, since I always stay at the Lyon-Mulhouse, near the Marais. I LOVE the area and can%26#39;t get enough of it. Will be there for the 4th time in december...

The Marais is fabulous, but do be relatively close to the metro.

On the other hand, i got a great deal at Hotel Valadon, on Rue Valadon which runs parallel to Rue Cler....we were after somewhere quieter.
