My husband and I are thinking of driving from Biarritz to Lourdes. Is it possible in one day? What are the road conditions like?

hello there, absolutely possible. Go to : www.viamichelin.com
choose your language (top, right) and go ahead. Biarritz-Lourdes takes about 2 hours (170 km) on the highway or 3 hours (170 km) on the discovery plan. By the way, but it is my own and only opinion, if you go to Lourdes for a pilgrim, ok. Otherway, nothing special there. You better go to St Jean de Luz and San Sebastian in Spain.

Considering the million of people who visit Lourdes every year, I should think as far as they are concerned there is very definitely %26quot;somwthing special there%26quot;.

Phil did emphasise that it was a personal opinion of his!

Went to Lourdes mid september out of curiosity. Found it very strange as a non religious person. The hundreds of tacky souvenir shops did nothing to reassure me. Hotels everywhere. Second only to Paris for number of hotel beds (15,000 apparently). Easy to get there from Biarritz via Autoroute to Tarbes. Pau is even closer and has daily Ryan Air flights. Cote Basque is more my cup of tea too Im afraid.

What about Biarritz to Lourdes and Pau and then down to Madrid over the mountains through Zaragozza or Pamplona? Wouldn%26#39;t that be s great trip?
