Familiar with area around La Motte Picquet?

We are renting an apartment in Paris in April near the La Motte Picquet metro station. We know that it is a mostly residential area, but we are not familiar with the area other than having walked past it to get to the Eiffel Tower. Is anyone familiar with this area? If so, could you recommend any local restaurants? Also, we know there are two grocery stores nearby, but are there any patisseries, boulangeries, etc. in the immediate area? We are familiar with the Rue Cler area one subway stop away, but we are eager to discover nearby shops for our everyday needs. Thanks!

There is a huge market at least twice a week at La Motte Picquet-Grenelle.

Marché Grenelle

Bd de Grenelle, entre la rue Lourmel et la rue du Commerce.

Mercredi, 7h à 14h30 et dimanche, 7h à 15h

Métro : La Motte-Piquet Grenelle

And there is a Monoprix at the corner of Rue du Commerce and Boulevard de Grenelle and lots of small shops on Rue du Commerce if you walk towards the small church at the end of Rue du Commerce (5 minutes walk from Métro Lamotte-Piquet-Grenelle).

There is a Laduree on rue Motte Picquet. From the Motte Picquet metro stop, you need to walk back past the Champs de Mars toward the Ecole Militaire metro stop, which is really close. It is on the same side as the metro stop, just past it. At the corner where the Ecole Militaire metro stop is, there is a good restaurant called La Terrasse.

Thank you! The apartment looks great (in the pictures, that is!) Our big concern was verifying that we are going to be in a %26quot;real%26quot; neighborhood vrs. a tourist area. Looks like we are in the right place. Your info is appreciated!

There is also a great outdoor market on Thursdays and Saturdays at Avenue Saxe %26amp; Place Breteuil. Rue Cler (a fun market street) is not a long distance either.

Enjoy!
