Latin Quarter vs Eifel Tower area

I am trying to decide where to stay...I will be in Paris for 3 nights with my husband. We are in our 30s and anticipate lots of sightseeing during the day. We would like to have some entertainment at night. Although I grew up going to Paris every summer, it is a lot different when you are a kid. What would you recommend?

Hi --

I noticed that you%26#39;ve gone without an answer -- I think there isn%26#39;t much of what you might call entertainment near La Tour - so if those are your two choices, the LQ has to win out.

Once this opinion hits the forum, I expect you%26#39;ll have lots of arguments in favour of various other arr., some simply to prove me wrong - but you%26#39;ll get lots of information out of the exchanges.

Bon voyage.

I agree with the prior poster - you likely will find the ET area too sedate for your tastes. of the two, I sould suggest trying the Latin Quarter.

Latin quarter, definitely! :D

Been to Paris 6 times since 2000

Stay as follows

7th 1

6th 2

5th 3

I would pick the LQ over the two choices. I am going for New Years and chose the 6th, Rue de Buci and Blvd St Germain...loved it personally, and love the 5th too!

I agree with the previous poster. I would definitely choose the 5th or 6th arrondissment over the 7th. There is so much more going on, and it is much more convenient to other sites like Notre Dame, Ile St. Louis, Louvre, la Sainte Chapelle, Luxembourg Gardens, etc., etc. The Rue de Buci area mentioned by the previous poster is very lively. Our family stayed there 3 years ago and loved it, even though it could get a little noisy at night (a problem you can avoid by getting a room off the street, or on a quieter side street). There were people in the street day and night, and not just tourists by any means, and plenty of places to go to at night.

I highly recommend the LQ due to its centrality. Being just a few blocks from my two favorite structures (Notre Dame and Hotel de la Cite, or City Hall) was a true luxury. We stayed at Agora St. Germain, and I plan to stay there for any future trips. Whatever the case, your stay will be magical.

Dear Jumpinthepond:

So far, it is unanimous. Go for the 5th or 6th, and I%26#39;m sure you will be happy. The prior posters have already given the best arguments for staying in these Arrondismonts.

Bon chance and bon voyage!

No Contest, 5ht or 6th . The 7th basically has the Eiffel Tower, but, you can SEE the Eiffel Tower from many other arrondissmonts.

The area around the Eiffel Tower seemed very quiect( almost residential) at night( expcept area below Tower of course). Deadsville.

I love the 6th the best .
