If I fly to Carcassonne in January, what is the best method of getting to Font-Romeu.? Thanks

Train from Carcassonne to Perpignan, then either bus or train to Font-Romeu.

I have done a bit of travelling in that area.
The rail journey from Perpignan to Font-Romeu takes about 3 hours on its own and a lot of that is on the narrow gauge line towards La Tour de Carol which, although picturesque is mighty slow!
Check timetable as the last possible departure from Perpignan is currently at 17.10

Current bus timetable Perpignan - Font Romeu is at

Another possible route is Carcassonne - Toulouse by train then train to La Tour de Carol then the little train to Font-Romeu but that%26#39;s again rather a long way round.
For that you need to consult

Geographically the most obvious route is train Carcassonne - Quillan (although most of the %26#39;trains%26#39; are in fact buses) then keep going south but If there is a bus south from Quillan towards Prades/Font Romeu and thus cutting off a huge distance I have not found evidence of it; Quillan is not a place I have been to.
Good luck.

There is no direct link from Quillan to Font-Romeu unless you have a car and are willing to drive up the Aude Valley - quite a long and winding route.
The %26quot;best%26quot; (???) solution apart from the one I suggested would be to take a train from Carcassonne to Toulouse, then another one to Latour-de Carol-Enveigt, then a taxi to Font-Romeu. Altogether, between 6 and 8 hours of travel ....
