Staying near Eiffel Tower - best way to get around?

My wife and I will be in Paris next week (for 7 days), staying at the Hilton near the Eiffel Tower... I%26#39;ve been looking at the Carte Orange info on the forums, but it only seems to work for zones 1-5...

What%26#39;s the best way for us to get around - assuming the metro is running next week...? Individual tickets?

We%26#39;re ready for lots of walking, but if its raining all the time, I%26#39;d rather be in a train or taxi...

Thanks!

Zones 1-5 should cover just about anything you want to see (certainly, all the central areas), other than places like Versailles (if you are planning to go there). You could get the Carte Orange, or just get carnets (packets) of Metro tickets - staying near the ET is a bit out of the way for a lot of the sites, so the Metro is likely to be your primary way of getting from one major area to another, then walking a lot.

Thanks!

I know its out of the way, but Hilton points are helping us get this trip together, so... unfortunately unless I wanted to spend a lot more money, I%26#39;m at the Eiffel Tower...

I think I%26#39;m confusing travel zones with arrondissments...

We%26#39;re arriving on a Wed. morning, so if the Orange card is from Sunday to Saturday - it might not pay for us, since we%26#39;d have to buy 2 weeks worth since we%26#39;re staying until the following Tuesday...

Thanks again!!!

I understand perfectly about the points - it leaves you with more money for that great dinner! You will do fine with the Metro, but likely the CO is not the way to do it. If you get two carnets (10 tickets each) that may well last the whole trip. Last time I bought them, they were about 11 euros per carnet.

Thanks a lot - I really appreciate your help. I think the carnet of tickets is probably best as well.

The points is getting us hotel nights and the flight over, so I love using those darned things as much as possible!

We%26#39;ll definitely make up for it with the lousy $ conversion rates as we eat our way around town over there...

We are really excited - it%26#39;ll be my wife%26#39;s first trip to Paris, so I%26#39;m really looking forward to it.

Thanks again!!
