From Paris to Bandol by train

Hi,

we are considering renting a house in Bandol in August 2008. We have already booked an apartment in Paris the previous week and would like to know if it is possible to go by train from Paris to Bandol?

I have looked at some train sites but can%26#39;t seem to find any info.

Would it be more convenient to rent a car in Paris and drive to Bandol - we would rent a car in Bandol anyway...?

Thanks, Katrine

You will find the times and fares on this site:

voyages-sncf.com/leisure/fr/launch/home/

It%26#39;s a long drive so the train would be easier if you are renting a car in Bandol anyway. Takes around 4.5 hours.

I am not sure it is possible to reach Bandol by train. (I don%26#39;t remember any service at least.) You could take the TGV to Marseilles and either take a bus or rental car from there to Bandol.

Bus schedules are here: http://www.lepilote.com/

However, if you do not already have a reservation for August, I might suggest that as being your first priority. Summer beach rentals are booked well in advance and it may already be too late to book many of the best locations for next year.

There are TGV getting from Paris to Marseille : very comfortable and very fast. unless you want to explore some places along your way to Bandol, I wouldn%26#39;t drive.

The TGV ride is approx. 3 hours and 20 mn. There is one TGV each hour (9:16; 10:16; 11:16; ...). Check your schedule on this website:

http://www.voyages-sncf.com

By road, Michelin gives 7 hours and 21 mn; use this very useful website for any itinerary :

http://www.viamichelin.fr

Temps : 07h21 dont 07h04 sur autoroutes

Distance : 828km dont 816km sur autoroutes

Coût estimé 130.73 EUR

Coût péage : 57.00 EUR

Coût du carburant : 73.73 EUR

Coût vignettes : 0.00 EUR

You can either take an other train to get from Marseille to Bandol, or rent your car in Marseille and drive to Bandol

Only Lyon is correct. Take the TGV to Marseille or Avignon and rent a car. As you are travelling early August the roads might be horrendous so you might have to double Michelin%26#39;s travelling time.

Safe journey
