Traveling through Lyon

I wondered if you could help with advice please - we are travelling from Bourg St Maurice to Lyon Part Dieu station (is it TER or TEN railway?) and we then have to get to Lyon St Exupery airport. Can you please advise on how long the transfer would take - is it a walk or a taxi. Many thanks.

hi ,hope you are well,

had a look on my route finder-there are two train stations called Part-Dieu one is Gare de Lyon Part-Dieu - Depose%26#39; Minute,3e Arrondissement and Gare de Lyon Part-Dieu,3e Arrondissement, they are only about 2 minutes apart though so not a great problem. To travel from the station to the airport is a distance of 27.3km by taxi,on also on my route finder(although 4 years out of date it looks as though there is a rail link to within 3km of the airport(would probably have to take a shuttle bus of some kind from there).

On the other hand is there any reason that you need to go to Lyon Gare de Part-Dieu as you can get a transfer coach from Bourg-Saint-Maurice bus/train station direct to Lyon St Exupery for around £26 one way per person.

will look into this a bit more and if i dig anything up will let you know,

many regards

hi,

have found some more info for you,the journey from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to the Gare de Lyon Part-Diue Station on SNCF will take approximately 3-1/2 hours and cost £40 for two people one way.,then if you go to the www,satobus.com website you will see that they do a transfer (on navette aeroprt-shuttle bus) which takes 35 mins and costs 8.60euros per person at 2006-2007 prices.

To travel by coach from Bourg-Saint-Maurice train/bus station to Lyon St Exupery airport direct with Satobus (www,satobus-alps.com) at todays prices will be 55.00euros per person one way.

hope this is helpfull and wish you a safe and pleasant trip.

many regards

jonG.

Thanks a lot for that - I%26#39;d not thought about the coach. Unfortunately the coach doesn%26#39;t get in early enough - we%26#39;re supposed to check in about 10 am - so I think it%26#39;s the 5.30 train then the transfer navette!

Don%26#39;t worry skiarc, there is only one Lyon Part-Dieu train station, that is both TER and TGV.

You cannot walk to the airport, that is located outside of the city.

The easiest way to get to the airport is to take the shuttle. you take it just in front of the train sation and it will take you 30 mn to get to Saint Exupéry airport. There is one shuttle evry 20%26#39; and the cost is 8.60 € per person.

The name of the shuttle is Satobus. All informations (schedule, prices) on this website, here is the english version:

http://www.satobus.com/welcome.html

Of course you could also take a taxi, but it will be more expensive (around 50/55 € in the day).
