Only 1 night in Paris-what can I do?

I m in Paris only for a night. Staying in hotel which is very near to CDG airport. Pls suggest what would be the best way to spend the night in Paris? How can I go to Louvre/Sacre cour from my hotel?

More help could be given with more information from you.

What time do you really have, when do you arrive in Pari, and at what time does your flight depart?

Staying near the airport may ( or may not) be your best choice.

The city of Paris is about 30 minutes away from airport by RER( train) and the trains do not run all night, so you must figure your travel plans carefully, or consider using a taxi ( which can range from 40 -55 euros into city).

I%26#39;ll arrive at CDG at 4 pm in evening and my next flight is on the next day morning. So I have my entire evening to spend in Paris. Would specifically like to visit Sacre coure and Louvre. Pls advice me how should I travel using RER/metro. Which metro line I need to take and where should I get down?

NO, I need times.

If you arrive at 4pm you will make it into city by around 6pm. Train is only about 30 minutes, but you have to clear immigration and pick up luggage right? Then what , do you check into your hotel? What do you do with your luggage, is it only a hand bag? If you go to hotel then you won%26#39;t make it back out to Paris till about 7 or later. This is a short night in Paris.

Last train back out to airport area is about 12 ( I think) someone on this baord can be more helpful then I with schedules. .

Stay IN Paris if you flight leaves after 10 am next day, that gives you time to catch the RER back out to airport in morning. . If your flight leaves very early in the morning it would be best to stay at airport hotel. This means you will only have time for a quick evening visit into Paris , make sure you catch last RER back out to the airport, and then , how to get to your hotel, if it does have shuttle will it pick you up late at night, or will you take a taxi?

The Louvre and Sacre Couer are two different areas in Paris. I would travel in on the RER , get off at ST Michel, walk around areas there a bit ( Latin Quarter) grab a bite to eat,, walk over bridge to see Notre Dame lit up, and admire view from bridge . Take a boat cruise at night to see the city lit up, beautful view of Eiffel Tower from boats.

If you stay in the area of the ST Michel RER you can just hop back on in morning to airport. There are many hotels in area.

I am sorry, but given you flight times and the location of your hotel, you will not be able to visit the Louvre. You may make it to Sacre Coeur, at least enough to see the outside at night, but you%26#39;d need to take a taxi in and out of the city.

You%26#39;re just about spot-on for LAST TRAIN on the RER %26#39;B-3%26#39; ligne from Paris back out to CDG--approx 00:03-00:15 (12:03-12:15 AM)...after this...it%26#39;s costly taxi fare. And even though the RER %26#39;B%26#39; train will get them to CDG...they must then make their way from the CDG train station to their hotel.

If day-of-arrival is a Wednesday or a Friday, Musée du Louvre is open late--until 21:45 (9:45 PM)......if a Thursday, Musée d%26#39;Orsay is open late--until 21:45 (9:45 PM)...otherwise both close at 18:00 (6:00 PM).

Thanks everybody for the responses.

Joan1, when I said 4 pm, i%26#39;ll be in hotel by 4 pm. Basically I m coming to CDG from some nearby place to catch a flight. So time lost in luggage collection etc.

If I need to make a choice between sacre-coure and Louvre (view from outside will also do), which 1 should I prefer?

I am not really interested in eiffel, b%26#39;se I%26#39;ve already been there.

So just want to utilize my 1 evening in Paris.

Pls advice.

I love walking around the coutryard of the Louvre in the evening, it is all lit up and beautiful. It is also near the river so you can wander along the Seine and enjoy the site of the lit bridges etc..

I would choose the area between the Louvre and Notre Dame( near where you get off train) to walk and enjoy my one evening. It is nice that you are actually arriving around 4 pm, that does give you a bit of time to enjoy a nice Parisian evening.

Good Luck.

Asawari, if you are that tight on time, I cannot see how anyone can choose the Louvre over Sacre Couer. Even if you do go to the Louvre, you will maybe make it through one-half of a room.

Take Sacre Couer!!!

At this time of year, sunset in Paris is at approx. 17:00 (5 PM)...so you might consider making your way up to Sacre Coeur first...than coming back down to stroll %26#39;round the Louvre and along the Seine
