Has anyone used any of these two Apartment Rental websites?

I am currently communicating with the following:

www.ownersdirect.co/uk (for an apartment in Nice)

www.nyhabitat.com (for an apartment in Paris)

Any feedback on any of these would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

Avoid Parisianhome

I’d like to warn you from using aparisianhome.com. I’ve rented short-term apartments in many countries and from different agencies. Usually this is a hassle-free way to be accommodated. Parisian home is the exception. First it was a real trouble finding the apartment. Not only was their description on how to find the apartment inaccurate, they had given me an incomplete door code as well. Hours later, when finally entering the apartment I discovered that the lights did not work. This was a real nuisance since there was no window to let in light in the bathroom. It was pitch black in there. Also, the promised equipment like a stereo and iron etc. did not work. Despite my repeated demands and visits to the office it took them nearly a month to fix the lights and the equipment. Not a word of apology though. After leaving the apartment they did not repay the full deposit, but said they were charging (a ridiculously high sum) for the electricity (around four times the amount you usually pay). It has been impossible to get any explanation or verification of their calculations. I think that they have put in system to overcharge the electricity in order to make some extra money. Another downside with the agency is that there is quite a disorder at the agency and they are often rude when you are dealing with them. But it is not certain that the same would happen to you.

we got an apartment for a month in the 20th through NYhabitat and it was the best apartment we have ever rented in Europe (out of a couple dozen)

they appear however to be just an agent that lists and connects you with the owner -- they take their hefty cut and then you are on your own with the owner making arrangements --

our owner spoke no English and we speak no French (or not much anyway) -- we managed to cope and we were totally happy with the place and the owner -- but if there were problems I am dubious about how helpful the agency would be -- we didn%26#39;t get to test that because we were completely happy with the apartment and had no problems getting the deposit back etc

so great experience -- but not able to tell you if they would be effective for problems

we have also used locaflat and they were fine (drawback is you have to go to their office to get the key) but they were professional, the place was as advertised, they were easy to deal with -- billed electricity off the meter which we reported so no scams there-- totally above board in our one experience

we have also used oppodohome and were totally pleased with that apartment -- the owner handed us our security deposit check back when we checked in (once he sized us up) because he wasn%26#39;t going to be there when we checked out

we also rented one apartment through VRBO and had a perfect experience also -- that one is just a listing service for owners so it depends on the owner

Thank you so much for you feedback,

So far my experience with NYHabitat has not been a good one. After receiving an e-mail from them I responded immediately, called after a few hours of no response and even left a message to call me back and as of today have not received a response. I do understand that they are open from M-F but I did respond to there e-mail within 15 minutes of it being sent in the morning. I guess I%26#39;m insistent since I will be in Paris in late May and want everything to be perfect.

Anyways, I found another website and was wondering if any of you had any experience with them. This is the apartment I am thinking of renting:

victoria-parishomes.com/victoria-paris-engli…

Please let me know what you think of the studio as well as the area where it is located.

Any advice and feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much

Sorry, in my attempt to make sure that my spelling was accurate I pasted instead of deleting and pasting.

I actually had a really good experience with parisianhome.com

my brother came and visited me this past summer and had a really good time using their services. He didn%26#39;t seem to have any problems wiith the staff and when a light went out (the only one in the bathroom!) they came over that very same day to repair it. so...i%26#39;m not really sure what the other guy was talking about...some people have bad experiences wherever they go. maybe you should check it out yourself at parisianhome.com

|||

LOL! Does anyone believe this guy?? I don%26#39;t!!!

Try one of the %26quot;tried and true%26quot; agencies that always gets good feedback here, such as Vacation in Paris (www.vacationinparis.com). They are based in the US and have been very easy to deal with when I have called them.

|||

I second Vacation In Paris...they are an agency but they also mail your apt key to you which is very convient. They mailed my key two weeks prior to my departure.

So far so good..many good reviews about them.

This summer we rented through regentsuites.com which is based in LA. I liked that they were on west coast time and could contact them when it was convenient for me. Sam was wonderful! Their local reps in paris parissimo.fr were equally great. They also arranged car service for us at CDG at a reasonable rate for 6 of us. I prefer agencies that take credit cards as you have some recourse if things go wrong. I also don%26#39;t like the fees that international wiring has. It can add up!
