We will have spent 5 days in Paris prior to this itinerary. Please let me know what you think and make any suggestions to improve upon it!

Day 1 Take train from Paris to Amiens. Collect hire car. Visit Australian war memorial in Villers-Brenoneux. Stay 2 nights in Corbie (not far from Amiens).

Day 2. Visit Albert to see war museum. Sight see in the area. Suggestions please. Overnight again in Corbie.

Day 3 Drive to Bayeux. Visit tapestry. Stay overnight in Bayeux.

Day 4. Drive to Mont St Michel. Visit Abby. Stay overnight on Mont.

Day 5 Drive to Loire valley stopping to visit Chenonceau. Stay in Blois for 2 nights.

Day 6. Sightseeing day. Visit Chateau Chambord. Any other suggestions? Stay overnight in Blois.

Day 7 Drive to Versaille. Visit Chateau. Stay overnight in Milon La Chapelle ( approx 20 km form Versaille)

Day 8 Drop off hire car at Versaille train station and catch train back into Paris for one night before flying out the next day.

Does anyone know how far it is from Chenonceau to Blois. Haven%26#39;t checked yet but I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s very far.

Your comments would be most welcome.

I think it%26#39;s about 30-40 min from Chenonceaux to Blois, but you can check it and all other driving distances on www.viamichelin.com. Check out la Roseraie in Chenonceaux for accommodations. You could stay there for 2 nights and see Chambord and Blois in one day, returning at night to Chenonceaux. I just loved this hotel; it%26#39;s exceptional. www.charmingroseraie.com

I think you%26#39;ll enjoy the stay on le Mont St. Michel, too. Check out Auberge St. Pierre - it has doors right out onto the ramparts.

Have fun!

Agree that you should stay in the Amboise area - you can do both from there and there is extra interest in Amboise - Da Vinci etc...

Can 100% back up La Roseraie - it is wonderful. Stay there if you can.

Also stayed here in Sept and this was superb as well - spoilt for choice in this region as regards foodie hotels especially:

Maybe have 2 nights back in Paris to avoid another overnight. You can easily get to Versailles by Train from Paris.

Chambord is pretty much unfurnished - so depending on your interests it is worth a thought. Very interesting architecturally though.

Good Itinery.

While in the Corbie area visit the Locknagar Crater. There are cemetaires scatted all over the countryside here - although it is tempting to stop at all and pay respects, you will find it emotionally draining. At each cemetary maintained by the Commonwealth there will be a book listing who is buried where. This is useful if youre travelling with one person in mind.

I do recommend staying in Blois - I can%26#39;t see the fascination with Amboise that so many people have. Blois is a bigger place, but a lot less %26quot;Disneyland France%26quot;, especially during summer. Chenonceaux to Blois is a short wander, but it would be worth going via Montressor if you have the time. (Which you may not have - Chenonceaux is worth a couple of hours of anyone%26#39;s time).

The Chateau in Blois is a good one - more original than most.

You will be going past le Mans between MSM and Blois - I have never been to the Motor museum there, but if youre a rev head it could be worth a diversion.

I would recommend to stay in Pontlevoy. It%26#39;s a very very small, but very well located town. It%26#39;s right in the middle of all the castles (20min from each). There are 2 great places to stay there:

The Abbey of Pontlevoy - a historic 1000 year old renovated Abbey.

La Cure Chambres D%26#39;hotes - a five star B%26amp;B, at a reasonable price.
