Where would YOU go?

Hi everyone,

My husband and I know we want to go to Europe this summer, but we haven%26#39;t decided where yet! We%26#39;ve narrowed it down to Greece, Italy or France. Both of us have never been over to Europe before, so we really have no clue about anything.

I%26#39;m assuming anyone in the Greece forum has some kind of preference towards Greece....so make a case for me! Why should we go to Greece over Italy or France? Or maybe Greece isn%26#39;t your preference...why should we choose somewhere else?

Thank you in advance...we are just so clueless and indecisive :)

Easier to narrow it down if we know what your interests are and how much time you have. Interested in ancient ruins? food preferences? modern art? wine?intend to drive or use trains? want big city experience or looking to just lounge on a beach? I can make a good cae for italy or France or a few of the Greek Isles.. really need a bit more to start with. You could also just throw a dart at the map or pick based on cheapest airfare!

I grew up vacationing in the Caribbean, so I lean toward a trip that is more relaxing than %26quot; go go go!%26quot;. However, both my husband and I have never been to Europe, so we%26#39;d obviously like to see a few attractions. Our main interests are good food, good wine, higher end lodgings and just enjoying the scenery and each others company. We%26#39;d probably prefer to stay somewhere more scenic and then rent a car or take a train to get into the city for a few days. Any recommendations on how our preferences would fit in a France trip?

Having visited all three countries you mention I think that France would be the most relaxing (unless you%26#39;re interested in cruising the Greek islands). Italy can appaear pretty frenetic, especially for a first timer, with so much to see.

My suggestion would be to fly into Paris and stay a few nights before renting a car and motoring through the wine regions and into Provence. A few days staying in the hill towns close to the Med would be an excellent way to complete your first European adventure. There%26#39;s so much beautiful scenary to enjoy and, of course, wonderful food and wine.

Here are a few web sites for you to browse through:

http://www.sawdays.co.uk/maps/france/ (also Italy %26amp; Greece)

karenbrown.com/Location/France/00000007.php (also Italy)

secretplaces.com/sp/…france_hotels.asp (also Italy)

Yes, responses to your question have been strongest on the Italy forum, as one might expect , so perhaps I%26#39;m just speaking up for France which I consider has much to offer a first timer.

Happy to help further.
