We will be arriving from Rome 2pm on a Tuesday in March; we have the day/night before our flight leaves the next morning at 11 am for the US. I do not know if we will have to go through customs or not coming from Rome? We will both have bags, I know the train takes 30 mins to get into the city, we would love to maximize our time and stay in a great hotel, and please your suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Don%26#39;t bother with the Louvre. You don%26#39;t have enough time. See Notre Dame and climb the tower if this line is not too long. This is a wonderful way to look out over Paris and is less of a mob scene than the Eiffel Tower. The Sainte Chapelle is nearby and is stunning with all its fabulous stained glass. Don%26#39;t miss it. Try to take a vedette ride on the Seine in the evening. Otherwise, just walk as much as you can. The Ile St. Louis is a wonderful place to walk and stop for a Bertillon sorbet. Also the Rue de Buci/St. Germain des Pres area in the 6th arrondissement. If you want to go to a museum, I would try something smaller, like the Musee Rodin or the Musee du Moyen Age (Musee Cluny, with unicorn tapestries), or the Musee d%26#39;Orsay.
Unfortunately, your timetable probably won%26#39;t let you do half of this, what with getting to and from the airport. Can%26#39;t you add a day at least?!?
