Things to do with 5 and 7 year olds in Christmas break

Looking for things to do with my 5 and 7 year old boys in Paris. We will be there for 6 days including Christmas day.

They only speak English and are, as expected, quite active..

Any thoughts and ideas will be great.

Thanks!!

Except for christmas day, the time youre in paris will be the same as any other. On Christmas day the shops will be closed except for Boulangeries (which are open until midday) and some pharmacies. Most (but not all) of the museums will be closed.

I would search the forum for %26quot;what to do withh kids%26quot; type posts and just check the attractions are open the actual day you%26#39;re thinking of visiting. Christmas day%26#39;s big event is walking down the Champs Elysee at about 5.00pm. Apart from that, it isn%26#39;t really your German type %26quot;Christmas with all the trimmings%26quot; type fantasy that the English and Americans have.

Ice skating in front of the Hotel de Ville. Going for a spin on the carrousels that are placed throughout the city. Checking out the holiday windows at the Galeries Lafayette.

If you have the money, there is an amazing holiday tea with an entire sweets buffet for the kinder at the Hotel Meurice.

The gardens of the Rodin museum if it is dry out.

My fiancee and I were in Paris in early Nov and although we don%26#39;t have kids we did notice lots of things for kids to do (we have travelled with our niece and nephew before who are are similar age to your boys). Most of the parks seems to have carousels, pony rides and play equipment (especially Luxembourg Gardens and Champs du Mars under the Eiffel Tower). They would probably also enjoy a boat ride http://www.batobus.com/english/. I think some of the museums also have activity sheet/treasure hunt type worksheets to entertain children too.

I would add to these nice suggestions the Musée des Arts et Métiers. Very interesting for kids, loads of techniques to discover, and they also will have things to experiment, adapted to their age, such as : calculate with an abacus, see how an engine is working, etc.

I recommend that you have lunch (or bruch on Sundays) at the museum café, as the food is very good (high pressure steam cooking) and the service very friendly.

More :

The Arts et Métiers metro station is also worth seeing, a kind of fantasy design, Nautilus like, I love it. Have a look :

Just got back from my first trip to Paris...I have to say, the %26quot;sleeper - surprise%26quot; museum for me, which I enjoyed, was the Musee de l%26#39;Armee (at Invalides)........rooms and rooms of %26quot;knights in armour%26quot;, including their horses....very, very interesting and impressive..I know my 5 year old nephew would have enjoyed it if he was taken there - he likes pretending to play sword-fighting with his friends, and I think your boys will enjoy too.
