Road Map?

Can anyone reccomend a good road map for driving from Rouen to Honfleur, Caen, Bayeux Mont St. Michel?

I recommend a spiral bound, book form road map of France in 1:200,000 scale. These are widely available in France for around 20 euros or online at:

Alternatively, you could printout the maps portions you need from either:

Michelin also do folding maps of single regions, perfectly adequate for driving around, which are for sale on Amazon if you want to prepare routes before you leave http://tinyurl.com/3486hj However, they are only 1:275000, so nowhere near as nice as the spiral bound book Sarastro recommends - however, they are cheaper and don%26#39;t weigh as much in luggage!

We used viamichelin for maps, but then again, we rented a car that had a great GPS system and that did all the work for us -- gave us great routes, timing of the trip and warned us about any delays. We drove from Brussels to Honfleur and on to Bayeux and it was fairly easy on roads similar to interstates.

The foldout Michelin maps cost between 4 to 5 Euros in France and you can get it at tabac shops so you can wait until you get into the country to buy it. For planning at home, I suggest using one of the mapping (google, mapquest, viamichelin, etc) websites since it will show you routes as well.

Check at mappy.com and viamichelin.com; you can also get driving directions.

Just coming back briefly here - all the suggestions work well for simple A to B driving directions. I%26#39;d mentioned getting a map in advance because it%26#39;s a way to prepare - to get a feel for the area, particularly identifying scenic roads which provide a nice detour, and also less busy roads which don%26#39;t always show up with online mapping. Michelin are good for highlighting in green if they consider a road is scenic, though (in my opinion anyway) they do become over-excited by roads through forests.
