paris transit strike

Hello there. My boyfriend and I will be travelling to Paris on Monday November 19, flying into CDG airport. Our hotel is in the 17th arrondissement and I%26#39;m a little concerned as to how we are going to get there with the transit strike going on. I know a cab is an option, but from what I hear, the traffic is at a standstill. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any idea parisians, if this strike may possibly end by Monday? I was also wondering if this strike affects trains travelling to Belgium and Amsterdam? Thanks.

Thalys and Eurostar are running on a regular schedule according to news. TGV is running at 20-25% with a small increase during week end... Strike is supposed to last through week end at least.

You can take Air France bus to Porte Maillot or Arc de Triomphe and then try to get a taxi for rest of way.

Hi. Thank you so much for your reply. Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the TGV? We have a Eurail Pass call the France-Benelux pass. Thanks again!!

Hello Olivepants,

How is everything over there now? My husband and I are about to leave for Paris tomorrow, and there doesn%26#39;t seem to be much more news on the subject...is it really not as bad as it seems?

Hiya: left Paris Monday 20th, complete nightmare... it took us 2 1/2 hrs to get to CDG, (ussually 40min). traffic jams everywhere and we noted conflicting information on the services which report the state of the traffic. IE, website showed most of the way clear...

Some lines of Metro and trains were/are not working, others limited service. The strike continues, apparently there is a minority of the union still pushing to continue, but not sure when it will end.

Apparently some Metro lines run with up to 35 minutes delay. I guess that a peak time it would be mad...

Good luck!
