Villas on north coast ?

Any recommendations for a nice villa for 6 adults anywhere on the north coast of Corsica between Calvi and Cap Corse ?

Thanks,

I was wanting to keep this to myself, but as I won%26#39;t be going back any time soon, I recommend this place in Patrimonio. Very comfortable, private and the owners are great to deal with.

Dear Irishrover,

Please tell me more about villa and village.

Never heard of Patrimonio - though now tracked it down to inland from St Florent.

I%26#39;ll leave Irishrover to tell you about the villa. Regarding the village, Patrimonio is arguably the most important centre on the island for Corsica%26#39;s unique wines. Some of the Niellucciu (reds) and Vermentinu (whites) you%26#39;ll find there are seriously decent.

Patrimonio is one of the few Corsican wine names that you%26#39;ll find in supermarkets and wine stores on the mainland, though of late the other regions have been catching up as regards quality: Calvi wines have recently won gold medals in Paris and there are some excellent wines grown in the Ajaccio and Sartene regions and elsewhere.

The village is also quite a good base for exploring. Cap Corse (great for walking), St Florent, Bastia and the interior are all reached fairly easily from there by car.

Yes, the village is quiet unless you happen to be there during the guitar festival in July. There are lots of wine cellars where you can taste the wine. Best do this on foot. The local muscat is lovely. The village is long and strung out. There are a couple of restaurants, an interesting church, two bakeries, one within walking distance of the villa. No big shops. You have to buy groceries in St. Florent, or stock up in the big supermarkets in Bastia. Nice scenery and walks.

The house has three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. It is extremely well equipped. The pool is lovely and well taken care of. There is a large garden. Extremely efficient air conditioning. Really there is everything you would need there for a great holiday. Lovely patio for eating (gas barbecue) and also a place to sit and eat by the pool. It%26#39;s in a very quiet area. The website shows you it all really. You have to pay a damage deposit in cash on arrival, but it is repaid promptly on leaving. The ownes live in Bastia, so don%26#39;t bother you at all, but give a phone number for contact if there are any problems. A car is essential for getting anywhere else apart from the village, although you would be able to get a bus to St. Florent or Bastia.

P.S. We booked the villa through clevacances.com. You can deal direct with the owners and I am sure there would be no problem as they are good people, but dealing through the company gives you a little extra leverage. You actually end up dealing direct with the owner but under the auspices of clevacances. The house is still on their site but might be a bit hard to find. It comes up near the end of the list in the higher price bracket. You can recognise it by a picture of the swimming pool. Anyway this site will also give you a good selection of other houses.

Thanks to Derektehred and irishrover - lots to look into, though daunted by comment %26quot;in higher price bracket%26quot; which is unlikely to suit, so my hunt may not be over yet.

All the places on the clevacances.com website are very reasonably priced. The higher price bracket refers to 750 euros and over.
