Need "Good Dining "Advice

Howdy All!

We are staying near the eiffel tower. What restaurants are around there ? I am figuring one decent meal per day and hitting the grocery stores for other meals. In london, that worked out well, but we did blow some $$$ on dining out. The pubs were awsome but expensive. I can still taste the beer and lamb. Yummy.

Thanks in advance,

Kristen

I like Cafe constant on rue St Dominique and au Petit Troquet near by (rue de l%26#39;exposition?). Typical French food though, no beer and lamb that I am aware of.

P%26#39;tit Troquet is at number 28. It%26#39;s small so prebooking is advised- a great bistro with typical food. It is one of the %26#39;bib gourmand%26#39; Michelin rated restaurants in the 7th. See if your hotel has a copy of the michelin red guide--more listings there.

We stayed at the Hilton which is n Avenue Suffren - within 1/2 block of the Eiffel Tower. The Hilton is right inbetween the 7th %26amp; 15th arrondismonts and within walking distance of the 16th. Here%26#39;s what I can share. On Suffren we had dinner at 38 Eiffel (would not recommend although inexpensive food was salty/poorly preprepared) and La Giberne (42 Suffren) which was very good and (30 euro prix fixe) and lunch at Ribe which was also simple but good. On Rue Desaix (adjacent to Suffren) we had dinner at De La Tour, very small husband/wife retaurant (26 euro prix fixe, 45 ala carte) There is a patiserrie on Suffren , grocery stores(on Suffren/Rue Desaix), butcher on (RUE Desaix), wine shop called Nicolas on Suffren.

We also walked a bit (6 blocks) to D%26#39;Chez Eux http://www.chezeux.com/english/index.asp. Classic French - a little pricey but the best Cassoulet and Lamb we have had. We also ate at

If you%26#39;re a major foodie I would recommend picking up a book called Pudlo Paris which was just published in English and is like the Zagat%26#39;s of Paris. It list all eating related suggestions with brief descriptions and average prices.

Across the street from the Eiffel Tower up the Palais de Chaillot and beyond is a whole area of shops and restaurants. There is also a number of food stands if you need a quick/cheap bite to eat.

Behind the Hilton on the Boulevard de Grenelle is also more small shops and a very famous bakery called Poilane. Whatever you do just buy what you need for the moment. We went to Poilane and bought too much pastries and when we had tried to enjoy it later in the day it wasn%26#39;t good anymore.

You could go to the Quai Branly museum%26#39;s restaurant, called %26quot;Les ombres%26quot;. Not cheap, but good food and beautiful view onto the Tour Eiffel.

And take the opportunity to have a look at the museum !
