Agora Saint Germaine Hotel

I have been reading the Paris Forum for a few weeks now....Have gathered various opinions on lots of diverse subjects....

We are planning on celebrating our 21st Anniversary in Paris in the 1st week of June 2008.

I think I have found the perfect area for us in the latin quarter and a lovely hotel called Agora Saint Germaine....It seems to have favourable reports on various websites...and also a wide ranging price scale!....Strangely it seems to be cheaper to book the hotel via the Eurostar Site than it is to book directly with the hotel...is this normal??

Has anyone stayed there recently?

Are there nice little restaurants close by?

Is it a good place to get to all the good places?

It will be our first time in Paris and we are really looking forward to it!

Thanks x

Haven%26#39;t stayed there recently but have stayed 3 times in past 14 years. also have stayed at their other hotel which is about 1 block away.....area is good.. at the end of St Germaine very near restaurants, good street market around the corner 3 times a week, good place for morning coffee, bakery, cheese shop etc all in a row by metro stop...short walk to Maubert Mutual( I think this is the spelling.. working from memory) metro stop..easy walk ( 10 minutes tops) to Notre Dame, then walk down to the Louvre, then along the river to the D%26#39;Orsay..rooms were very small but that is Paris.. I have read they have refurbished bathrooms..we have always had a room on the street side ( they have some that are inner ( one with no windows to speak of facing an inner light well.) this may reflect in the price.. we like street side on 3rd floor. .. rooms have windows that open.. only drawback is there is a church kittycorner and bells ring sometimes very early.. never a problem for us...don%26#39;t have the breakfast there.. go out to cafe near metro stop excellent cafe creme and places to sit outside. This past September we tried a new area, the Marais, stayed at the Bretonnerie( reviewed in Oct) it was also excellent but for first visit to Paris I would go back to the Agora St. Germaine

Hope this helps some maybe someone who has stayed recently will answer or you could pm a recent reviewer.

We stayed at their sister hotel across the Blvd. St. Germain called the Abbatial St. Germain. The Agora is nicely located on a side street off the boulevard so it%26#39;s a little less busy there. It seems to be a nice hotel and they%26#39;ve recently renovated it.

It%26#39;s very close-several blocks-to the Seine. There are cafes and restaurants closeby, and you can walk in either the direction of the Marais across the river or to St. Germain for more restaurant choices.

As traveller above stated the hotel is close to the Maubert/Mutualite metro stop so it%26#39;s convenient for transportation as well.

There are many services available nearby too such as ATM%26#39;s and so on.
