My husband and I are going to Paris for 4 days in August. We are older travelers, and have two musts, a bathroom ensuite and an airconditioner. We don%26#39;t mind walking, but would love to be in a charming neighborhood with a selection of good cafe%26#39;s at night ( we are not night people and don%26#39;t want to travel for dinner) Does anyone have any suggestions as to Arrondisment/ hotels ( in the 250-300) per night range?
Thankyou

I stayed at the Hotel Nepoleon, half a block from the Arc. 4 Star Read my and other reviews on this site. Go to search and place name of hotel. They also have a web site. Notelnepoleonparis.com

There are many hotels that fit that description in that price range.
I have stayed at Hotel Le Regent, in the 6th, excellant location. Clean, nice , a/c mini fridge, safe etc. cafes all around. About 200 euros. Do take the Deluxe or better room as the standard rooms looked VERY small. Ours had a nice washroom and decent size.

In your price range all hotels will have ensuite bathrooms and A/C.
If you browse this forum, you will see that the most recommended arrondissements are the 6th and the 4th. In the 4th, you may choose the Marais district or the charming Ile Saint Louis.
In both arrondissements, you will have a lot of cafés at night, and both areas are great.
Search for travellers recommendations with the blank space above, or on Expedia for travellers reviews.
It is a personal opinion, but I don%26#39;t think the Champs Elysées area is a nice area to stay (although the Hotel Napoleon is fine) : very noisy, overpriced. Nice to get there once to enjoy the perspective towards Le Louvre, but definitively not a nice parisian area to stay.

Within your price range ($250-300...175-200€) you are within the average range of many Paris 3-star. All will offer en suite bathrooms and most (but notnecessarily all) will offer air conditioning
For a good 3-star choices in the upper-6eme--Saint Germain des Pres, check out some of these (among others)--

The immediate neighborhoods of the upper-6eme put you within in easy strolling / walking distances of a great many sites and attractions.....excellent public transportation (RER, Metro, Bus) access and connections to %26#39;..the rest of Paris..%26#39;....more than enough good cafés, bistros and restaurants to suit almost any taste, appetitie or budget...more than emough interesting shopping to max out all but AMEX %26#39;black%26#39;....

Hi --
I%26#39;ve stayed in many different areas of Paris and they all had certain things in common - first - they were all safe, and second, there were always good, although not necessarily famous, cafes in the neighbourhood, no more than a couple of blocks walk from my hotel, and often less..
When you say 250 - 300 range, do you mean USD or Euros? At the moment 250 USD is about 165 Euros - The US dollar seems to keep heading downward, and this might be a good time to pay sooner rather than later to get the best value for your money.
Bon voyage.
