Cirrus is a major network, so you should be able to find atms easily.

This will make you feel better:

I would double check with your bank, I tried to access my Barclays saving account when I was in Paris using an ATM only card, which runs on Cirrus. I tried to use it in HSBC cashpoint, but was told to refer to bank. I had to go to an internet cafe to transfer funds online instead!!

My understanding is - if you have both a checking and a savings account, you can only access the checking account at the ATM (no choice is offered). If you have *only* a savings account, then supposedly you *can* access that one.

i travelled recently and my travel partner had no bother with his card although i think it was AIB , i didnt use mine but i have same card as you and used it with no problems in dubrovnik in the summer, enjoy..

In the US it%26#39;s a must to call the card company/bank %26amp; let them know where you%26#39;re going when traveling outside of US. Credit/Bank security highlights overseas transactions and if u don%26#39;t haven%26#39;t notified them, they%26#39;ve been known to shut u down %26amp; out.

I%26#39;ve read all the postings and I have this to add --

ATMs in continental Europe require a 4 digit PIN and a checking account. They do not allow selection of an alternate account. Do not use a credit card to withdraw money - the transaction is considerred a cash advance, and the interest begins to ca-ching the minute you take the cash from the machine. Use only your debit card.

Talk to your bank about charges - ask if there is an associated bank that you can use to reduce your charges. For travel, I have an account in HSBC - they have branches almost everywhere, and are very helpful to their customers.

Bon voyage.

It%26#39;s not quite true about the checking account bit. What travelnutty said before was spot on: If your ATM card is tied to multiple accounts at the same bank, your checking account is (almost always) designated as the primary account, so it%26#39;s the only account whose funds you can access with your ATM card overseas. However, if you only have a savings account at a bank, that ATM card should work just fine overseas. I use the ATM card tied to my Capital One Money Market Account (savings account) overseas, with no problems at all.
