Can anyone please recommend a good hostel in Paris?
I would prefer it to be close to the Eiffel Tower as I would like to see it at night.
I would also appreciate any recommendations as to nightlife/clubs.
Thanks in advance!

The MIJE hostels in the Marais are in a FAR more exciting area of Paris and I%26#39;ve only heard good things about them. From what I%26#39;ve actually seen in person, they%26#39;re clean and well run. I%26#39;ve never stayed there but I%26#39;ve done recon for visitors.

The 7th Arrondissement (location of the e-tower) is pretty boring and not the place to stay if you want to really experience Paris. The Marais is amazing and probably the best place for a first visit. The e-tower is omnipresent on the Paris skyline and is only a short Metro ride from anywhere.

shereen,
You might also try posting on forums such as lonelyplanet.com that has more of the backpacker traveller crowd than on this forum.
By the way, we still use backpacking for our travels, but our hostel use has definitely decreased as the years have gone by . . .

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions!!

Also, check out the Student Universe forums. They have a wealth of travel tips from fellow experienced travlers, as well as hostel evaluations. forums.studentuniverse.com/europe-f4.html
For nightlife, I enjoy exploring the less visited sections of the Quartier Latin and hang out in the bars.
You can also invest some money into a paper guide like Let%26#39;s Go France. They have entire lists of night clubs, bars, hostels, and attractions.
I would recommend the Auberge Internationale des Jeunes (www.aijparis.com). You may visit the website. You can also read my detailed review of the place here -%26gt; forums.studentuniverse.com/post7112.html#7112
Hope that helps.
