best way, 5 people from AIX to NICE ,VFSM

we have 5 people that need to get from aix ( actually we are staying in carces) and need to get to villefranche sur mer , what is the most efficient way to go.I have heard most people say NOT to take the fast train ( tvg) which transport takes least time and i guess that would be least stops. also any additional info would be greatly appreciated as to bus or train info as i have looked at schedules and they are very confusing ( as allot stop in marseille and I prefer NOT to do that. THANKS SO MUCH!

There are no actual TGV high-speed lines between Aix and Nice, thus the fairly long train trip. With 5 people, renting a car might be your best bet.

Thanks for your input. as I am not thrilled with driving in france do you know what train to take or about how long it DOES take by train so i can figure that in , timewise? thanks again!

Look at the sncf.com web site, choosing the English option. That will give you timetables and such. Another good site is a German one, bane.de, also with an English version.

From the Aix-en-Provence TGV station, it takes under 3 hours to get to Nice.

For example, on Monday, November 26, there will be four trains departing for Nice.

8h04-11h00

10h58-13h36

12h35-15h16

19h56- 22h36

Alternatively, driving the other way from Carces, there is a station at Les Arcs Draguignan which has regular local trains (ter) to Nice, cost under 15€ each.

If you end up taking the local train to Nice, make sure the train is TER and NOT a Corail Lunéa night train....both of them travel the same route. I was on the Lunéa once - the train was in deplorable condition and smelled like something awful.

thanks so much!
